On Jan. 17, the Roxbury Public Library held its first American Red Cross blood drive. Despite snow and less than ideal driving conditions, dozens of area residents showed up to donate blood, nearly doubling the Red Cross' quota for the day!
The drive was held in honor of local resident, Matt Adonis. Having a blood rive in his honor was a lovely way to bring awareness to the constant need for blood in our communities. Whether you know Matt or nor, it was a way for neighbors and friends to show their support by "paying it forward" for other in need.
Blood drive results:
- 37 pints collected
- 4 power red donations
- 111 patients helped
On behalf of Matt and his family, the library staff, trustees, and friends: thank you, Roxbury!
Another drive has been scheduled for June 29t Keep up with library news and events by subscribing to our email list here.
