FTPD Officers Participate in Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run to Raise Funds for Special Olympics

On Friday, June 11th, 2021, the Franklin Township Police Department is participating in the 38th Annual Special Olympics Torch Run to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics New Jersey.

Franklin Township's group, Run 11A, has already raised $12,015 benefiting the Special Olympics, with an overall $114,279 raised through law enforcement agencies throughout New Jersey for the Special Olympics.

Sometime between 530PM-630PM, the 7-mile run for the Franklin Township Police Department will begin at Route 27 and Bennington Parkway where the North Brunswick Police Department will hand off the torch. The run will continue down Route 27 through South Brunswick and conclude at the Princeton border.

The Franklin Township Police Department has been participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for 19 years and will have eleven runners participating this year. Each year more than 3,000 dedicated Law Enforcement officers participate in the NJ Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The 26-leg journey carries the New Jersey Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" nearly 750 miles throughout the Garden State to The College of New Jersey in Ewing, where it ignites the cauldron at the Opening Ceremony of Summer Games.
