EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ —Genealogy and military history enthusiasts will be excited to learn that East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center) now offers Ancestry.com’s popular Fold 3 military records database to its customers.
Fold3 contains millions of service records, photos and documents of the men and women who served in the United States military accessible to historians, genealogists, researchers, military enthusiasts, veterans and their families, teachers and battle reenactors.
“This is a great service that enhances our genealogy resources to include military history,” said Karen Parry, East Brunswick Public Library’s Information Services Manager. “Fold3 is extremely easy to use; after using the database for the first time, I easily found records about my own father’s military service during World War II.”
In addition to military records, Fold3 has a wide variety of additional collections, including the Social Security Death Index, naturalization and passport form logs, UFO siting reports and African American historical archives. There are currently over 605 million records in Fold3’s archive.
The database can be searched from both home and in the library.
Fold3 is available for free to anyone who has a valid East Brunswick Public Library card. To access the database, visit the library’s website www.ebpl.org, choose the “Research” tab and select
“Adult Online Databases” section to get started.
In addition to Fold3, East Brunswick Public Library offers access to Ancestry.com’s Library Edition, which lets library customers access the genealogy website from inside the library, allowing them to view historical information from censuses, churches, courts, military, probate logs, vital records, ship passenger lists and more.
