Daily passes to Westfield Memorial Pool will cost non-members 60 percent more this year.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Existing members of the Westfield Memorial Pool can get a jump on the swimming season by registering early online.
The pool will start the season with 160 new lounge chairs and free wireless web access, Mayor Shelley Brindle announced. The Town Council recently awarded a contract for food concessions to Suspender’s Pub, of Union Township, the resolution authorizing the contract award states.
The Board of Recreation had recommended Suspender's Pub by a unanimous vote earlier this month. Suspender's Pub will pay the town $40,000 for the opportunity to serve pizza and a slate of other foods at the pool this season, officials told the Board of Recreation recently.
An increased guest fee for the pool is intended to mitigate overcrowding, and additional surcharges for online payment have been eliminated, Brindle said. Passes for members bringing guests are $10 per person per day, while guest passes for non-members will be $40 per person per day (up from $25 per person last year).
The pool facility offers a main pool, two kiddie pools, a lap pool, diving boards, two giant slides, a playground and a large grassy area for sports play and lounging areas in its complex. It also offers facilities for the public to change clothing in.
