SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- As one of the activities for NJ Local Government Week, Mayor Al Smith spoke to Advanced Weight Training classes on Tuesday at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School about the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign.
Specifically, the Mayor promoted his Mayor’s Medal program, which is awarded to anyone completing at least three of the runs/walks in town this year. he also discussed the importance of exercising and eating healthy.
“I had a great experience today interacting with students at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School and introducing them to the Mayor’s Wellness campaign and activities,” said Mayor Smith. “I look forward to our students and young people participating in Mayor’s Wellness programs this year.”
The next race in the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign is the Union Catholic 5K Spectacular on April 13, followed by the YMCA 5K on May 14, the Downtown Race to Summer 5K on June 13, and the Rose Checchio Walk to Wipe Out Breast Cancer on Oct. 5.
