SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – More than 100 residents have completed a questionnaire on the village’s website about Hurricane Sandy, according to village President Alex Torpey.
The survey is still available at www.southorange.org.
“We wanted to take a holistic approach to getting feedback from the community about their experiences during the storm, helping inform not only our future policies but what issues we need to advocate on,” Torpey wrote in an email.
The survey asks about the services that people may have lost during the storm and the time required for restoration of service. It also lets users give feedback on services such as electricity and cable.
“Obtaining input and feedback from the community about those aspects of the response, although admittedly out of local government control, can assist us in pursuing and facilitating changes at the statewide level,” Torpey said.
The results of the survey will be used, along with comments from neighborhood meetings and a Town Hall meeting scheduled for later this month, to evaluate the village’s response to the hurricane.
