HAWTHORNE, NJ - The Hawthorne Environmental Commission/Green Team has public education and awareness as one of its key missions.  Throughout the year, they are involved in such community efforts as the Hawthorne High School based Cel-Earth-Bration, the Green Fair, bird walks, the Community Garden, and the Passaic Riverfront development project which is ongoing.

The Green Team announced that members Lisa DeVos and Holly Cowen, who has submitted a number of wildlife photographs from around town to TAPinto Hawthorne, will join with Liana Romano, the Environmental Commissioner, for a lecture called "Birding 101" at the Louis Bay 2nd Library, Tuesday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m.

"If you like birds and are interested in learning about them, then this is the program for you!"  The Green Team said in a statement.  "We will show you the basics of how to get started, what you need, identifying birds, etiquette, and more. Each attendee will be entered to win a framed photo of a local bird. The winner will be selected at the end of the lecture."
