The Clean Communities Advisory Board has announced that the annual Borough-wide Spring Cleanup will not take place on April 18 as scheduled.

Cleanup Day usually draws over a hundred volunteers, so the Governor’s ban on large groups means we cannot go ahead with the event.  In the face of the novel Corona virus pandemic, the need for social distancing outweighs the benefits of our communal litter cleanup.

However, litter control is an essential activity in a Sustainable community, even in these unusual times.  Homeowner and apartment dwellers alike can do litter patrol in their own neighborhoods while out walking for fresh air or exercise.  It will make the walks more pleasant for everyone.  Keeping an eye on the storm drains and clearing off debris would be a service to the community.

The CCAB hopes to be able to reschedule Volunteer Litter Cleanup Week in the fall.
