ST. BONAVENTURE, NY — St. Bonaventure University expects to announce start and end dates for the fall semester by the middle of next week, Chief Communications Officer Tom Missel told TAPinto Greater Olean Tuesday.
As many universities across the country have decided, an early start and end to the semester has been discussed, according to Missel.
The university closed campus and moved all classes online on March 19 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With uncertainty still in the air, Missel said if a COVID-19 outbreak occurs on campus at any point during the upcoming academic year, the university will be prepared to move classes online again.
“Another outbreak is something no one wants to think about, but has no choice but to think about,” Missel said in an email. “Should we get to the point where the outbreak was so serious and we couldn’t manage it, we’d likely have no choice but to return to online delivery.”
TAPinto Greater Olean will continue to follow this developing story and will post updates as new information becomes available.
