The Cattaraugus County Health Department confirmed six additional coronavirus cases, bringing the county’s total to 88. 

According to press releases issued Friday and Saturday by the department, the 83rd, 84th and 85th, 86th and 87th cases are all females who work in an Olean nursing home.

All five women live in the southeast quadrant of the county. The women denied having significant travel history or contact with known COVID-19 individuals. The women were tested for COVID-19 as part of a New York State requirement to test all nursing home employees weekly. The women, who all report being asymptomatic, received their COVID-19 positive results on Friday.

The 88th confirmed case is a woman who lives in the southeast quadrant of the county, according to Saturday’s press release. The woman denied having significant travel history, but came into close contact with a known COVID-19 individual. The woman, who reports being asymptomatic, was tested for COVID-19 on June 17; she received a COVID-19 positive result on Friday. 

The department has begun thorough contact tracing on the individuals. 

There are ten active COVID-19 cases in the county; 74 residents have recovered, and four have died.
