New Providence Chiropractic to Hold Fundraiser for Sandy Relief on Friday

November 22, 2012 at 6:27 AM

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Many people throughout New Jersey have lost their homes and belongings and are struggling to recover after Hurricane Sandy. To help them ease their pain, New Providence Chiropractic will be holding a fundraiser on Friday Nov. 23 for the New Jersey Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.

The company participates in charity events during the year including for the Make a Wish Foundation. Physical Therapist and Public Relations Director Adam Hackett said he and Dr. Mark Schlobohm came up with the idea to help people affected by the super storm.

“When this happened we knew we had to get out there and do something,” Hackett said.

While it normally takes a few months to set up an event like this, Hackett said they moved quickly and are eager for it to begin.

On Friday, they will exchange first day chiropractic services for a minimum donation of $25 to the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Fund and new patients will receive a health consultation, exam, x-rays if necessary, and a private consultation to discuss the results of the tests. Please call 908-665-1818 to make an appointment.

Also, for existing patients, on Nov. 24, patients will receive a free chiropractic adjustment for a $25 donation. Hackett said there are normally 35 to 45 patients on a Saturday and this week, they expect it to double or triple.

New Providence Chiropractic specializes in spines, nerves, necks and back pain, headaches and sports injury rehab. Fortunately, during the storm they remained open and operated by using flashlights. It was a bit difficult, Hackett said, but they were still able to do their jobs.

A lot of people came for treatment during the storm, which was surprising, he said. Residents of New Providence and the surrounding areas had pain and stress from cutting down trees and lack of power and heat, so many of them came to relax and get adjusted, Hackett said.

As one of the largest chiropractors in the area, Hackett said they just really want to be there for people in a time of need.

“We’re trying to help New Jersey as a whole and we’re trying to also help the community that’s in pain,” he said.

Tears Are Good, They Let The Sadness Out

January 16, 2017

Jackie Kennedy and Coretta Scott King were our nation’s role models for mourning in the 1960’s and in the decades since. They were praised for their strength and stoicism, their courage and grace, and rightly so. They were great role models for our nation at a time of great unrest and anxiety, but I would say they were not the role models we needed when it came to grieving our ...
