PISCATAWAY, NJ — Middlesex County health officials did not report any new positive COVID-19 cases in Piscataway over the last 24-hour period.The total remains at 842 residents who have tested positive and the death toll remains at 34 for the township.

There are 16,563 positive cases in Middlesex County and 1,097 deaths, according to covid19.nj.gov.

Statewide, new positive cases jumped by 516, bringing the total to 168,496, with an additional 37 deaths for a total of 12,835, according to Friday's update from the State Department of Health.

In addition, hospitalizations now stand at 1,177 -- 61 new and 108 discharges since Thursday, 286 patients are in critical or intensive care, and 231 are on ventilators. 

Residents are reminded to remain vigilant in following the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control, the State of New Jersey, and public health officials when it comes to social distancing, hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, and disinfecting common areas.
