PISCATAWAY, NJ — Middlesex County health officials did not report any new positive COVID-19 cases in Piscataway over the last 24-hour period. The total remains at 847 residents who have tested positive and the death toll remains at 34 for the township.

There are 16,667 positive cases in Middlesex County and 1,107 deaths, according to covid19.nj.gov.

On Thursday, the New Jersey Department of Health reported a total of 170,196 positive cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began its spread in the state 115 days ago, and a total of 13,018 deaths during that time, an increase of 23 overnight.

The data released Thursday includes 1,854 probable deaths for New Jersey. Edward Lifshitz, medical director for the health department, said that the majority of probable COVID-19 deaths are people connected to long-term health facilities who had COVID-19 symptoms.

Residents are reminded to remain vigilant in following the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control, the State of New Jersey, and public health officials when it comes to social distancing, hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, and disinfecting common areas.
