WEST ORANGE, NJ — There were three additional cases of COVID-19 reported in West Orange on Wednesday, according to Mayor Robert Parisi.

The total intake of cases in West Orange was 1,363, with no additional deaths reported on Wednesday. Deaths are included in the "total intake" number and remain "active" until a full investigation is complete. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in West Orange was 170.

Three residents were hospitalized with the coronavirus; each of them were in intensive care. The There were 438 current active coronavirus cases in West Orange. The township reports that there have been 853 recovered and closed cases.

Wednesday marked the sixth day in a row that the number of new COVID-19 cases in West Orange has been three or fewer.

Essex County reported a total of 18,437 cases of COVID-19 Wednesday. There have been 62,277 negative test results in Essex County. There have been 1,754 deaths in Essex County attributed to the coronavirus.

In New Jersey, an additional 277 coronavirus cases Wednesday brought the total in the state to 167,703, according to the state Department of Health. The number of new infections has been below 500 for five consecutive days in New Jersey.
