WESTFIELD, NJ—Many got a dose of frustration this afternoon when power temporarily went out in several parts of Westfield and nearby towns. A representative of PSE&G told TAP that most customers’ power has been restored from this incident.
According to Councilman James Foerst, the PSEG representative to the Town of Westfield has advised that the Seawarren Transmission facility has failed. They advise that 80,000 customers lost power because of this issue, affecting towns from Westfield to Warren to Edison.
The outages came as a shock to those around town who had restocked the fridge and turned down the heat, expecting that they had seen an end to major power outages. Although PSE&G had told customers to expect temporary outages as the company was working to restore all power, the company had sent out a press release early this morning announcing that of all of their customers only 19 outages remained from Sandy and just 259 remained from the Nor’easter Wednesday night.
