Explore a Bird Habitat

FLEMINGTON – Explore the bird habitat of the Hunterdon Land Trust’s Dvoor Farm on Sunday, June 13 at 8 a.m.

Juanita Hummel, of the Washington Crossing Audubon Society, will lead this hour-long bird walk. She’ll stop at several habitat sites and discuss why their preservation was vital for birds and other wildlife. The farm is located at 111 Mine St. in Flemington.

Red-tailed hawks, yellow-bellied sapsuckers are among the dozens of species spotted on the farm in previous walks.

Hummel, an avid birder and nature lover, serves on the board of the Washington Crossing Audubon Society, and volunteers with the NJ Audubon Society, the Wildlife Conservation Corps and other conservation organizations.

Later that morning, HLT’s Farmers’ Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring about 25 local farmers and vendors with organic produce, meat, fresh-baked bread, honey, locally roasted coffee, garlic, fresh-cut flowers, cheese and more.

Farmers’ Market sponsors are: Basil Bandwagon Natural Market, Northfield Bank, Thomas McMillan — Callaway Henderson Sotheby’s International Realty, Hunterdon Healthcare, McPherson & Newland Insurance, and Matt’s Red Rooster Grill.
