STONE TAVERN, N.J. — A new, preliminary event derby will be held on May 12 during the final day of the Jersey Fresh International Three-Day Event.
The derby is sponsored by East Coast Equine Performance LLC, Dr. Ted Mazzarisi, DVM and will be held about noon.
An event derby includes a dressage test followed by a course that features show jumping fences and cross country obstacles.
The entry fee is $125. The purse is $2,500, with cash awards through eighth place.
Stabling is available but the horse must have all required FEI vaccinations and must be checked by the FEI veterinarian before entering stables.
The 17th annual Jersey Fresh International Three-Day Event (JFI) will take place May 9 to 12, at the Horse Park of New Jersey.
Over the years, JFI has helped determine both United States’ and Canadian World Equestrian Games and Pan Am Games Teams. In 2018 the event was a qualifying selection event for the U.S. Eventing Team whose athletes competed in the quadrennial World Equestrian Games held in Tryon, North Carolina, in September 2018.
Advanced tickets for Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 12, is now open. Tailgating spaces are available for cross country day. There will be awards for bets tailgates and hats.
