SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Official transcripts, a video replay, and the slide presentations from the 67th annual Round Table Conference on Matters Pertaining to Racing are now available at www.jockeyclub.com.

The conference, held Sunday, Aug. 11, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., featured a Q-and-A session with John Messara, the owner and chairman of Arrowfield Stud, and a presentation on category 1 interference rules by Kim Kelly, the chief stipendiary steward for The Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Mike Mulvihill, the executive vice president of research, league operations and strategy for FOX Sports, and Bill Knauf, the vice president of business operations for Monmouth, discussed the impact of sports betting on horse racing.

David Fuscus, the president and chief executive officer of Xenophon Strategies, a global public relations firm, offered strategies for how the Thoroughbred industry should react under times of crisis, and Valerie Pringle, the campaign manager for equine protection for The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), shared how the HSUS advocates for equine welfare and why it supports the Horseracing Integrity Act of 2019.

Dr. Nancy Cox, the dean of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky, educated the audience on the University of Kentucky’s research into safe and consistent racing surfaces.

William M. Lear Jr., the vice chairman of The Jockey Club, provided an update on the Horseracing Integrity Act and its importance to the Thoroughbred industry.

Laura Barillaro, executive vice president and chief financial officer of The Jockey Club, delivered the activities of The Jockey Club report.

The Jockey Club Round Table Conference was first held on July 1, 1953, in The Jockey Club office in New York City. The following year, it was moved to Saratoga Springs, N.Y., where it has been held every August since.
