HOUGHTON, N.Y. To raise money for the CHA Scholarship Fund, the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) holds a silent auction at the CHA International Conference every year.

The CHA Scholarship Fund helps deserving individuals who wish to further their professional career by attending a CHA Certification Clinic to obtain an official certification from the largest certifying body of riding instructors and facility managers in North America. This fund helps CHA achieve its core mission of certifying professionals within the horse industry. By donating, companies get to reach attendees of the conference, which includes equine facility managers and staff, riding instructors, equestrian camp staff, university faculty, equine industry professionals, and horse enthusiasts.

This year’s conference will be Oct. 24-27 at Houghton College in Houghton, N.Y., about an hour from Buffalo. The silent auction will be open with items on display starting at 10 a.m. Thursday in Schaller Hall, and conference attendees will be able to bid until Friday at 7 pm right before the awards banquet starts.

All donors will be promoted in the conference program, on the CHA website, and on signage at the event. Donations made after July 31 will be accepted, but will not be able to be published in the program or on signage.

CHA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax exempt organization, which makes silent auction donations tax deductible as charitable contributions. To donate, fill out the Silent Auction Pledge form no later than July 31. Complete instructions, including where to ship items, are on the form.

For any business wishing to have a larger presence at the CHA International Conference, vendor space, sponsorships, and program advertising are still available. Attendees of this must-attend conference learn about a wide range of horsemanship and equine business topics, including horse care and management, equine behavior, teaching techniques, how to work with riding students, safety protocols, how to run an equine-related business, marketing and social media, how to improve skills on the ground and in the saddle, and how to communicate better with the horse. Experts from the horse industry will offer presentations and hands-on mounted workshops, while networking opportunities abound. For those who plan to attend, don’t forget to bid on your favorite silent auction items.
