ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets released an Erie County property from quarantine after no new cases of Equine Herpesvirus developed.

The quarantines were placed a horse was diagnosed earlier, according to the Equine Disease Communications Center.

A Paint mare, from Erie County that exhibited ataxia and falling was confirmed positive for EHV-1 via nasal swab PCR test the week ending Jan. 11.

No horses had left the farm in the two weeks preceding the onset of the illness nor had any left the farm after the diagnosis of this case. 

No other horses have developed symptoms as of Jan. 25.
