HAMPTON TWP., N.J. — Equestrians shipped in from near and far for the First Day Trail Ride held in Sussex County on Jan. 1 to kick off the new year.
The ride was the only equestrian event that is part of the New Jersey State Parks First Day hikes being held throughout the state.
One rider walked in to meet the others, others shipped in from as far as south Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York to ride with the group. Later that afternoon trailers were parked by Yetters where the several from the group had a late lunch together. The riders discussed more group gatherings, clinics and other events.
At least one rider made a New Year’s resolution to join the Paulinskill Valley Trail Committee to keep informed about happenings on the trail.
