WANTAGE, N.J. — The second of five benefit horse trail rides and camping at Lusscroft Farm will be held July 13.

The other rides will be held Aug. 3, Aug. 31 and Oct. 5

Riders must bring their own horse and come feel the magic riding on the Lusscroft Farm marked trail system and fields. Enjoy a quiet, relaxed camping weekend or just a day ride.

All rides start at approximately noon after a leisurely campfire breakfast. Noon allows day riders to park and ride along with campers, or head out on their own.

Riders have the option of arriving on Friday after noon and can stay until Sunday lunch.

The weekend fee is $45 and includes Friday/Saturday night camping with a stall for two nights. Hotels are nearby for non-campers.

Day riders are asked to contribute to the ongoing restoration projects at Lusscroft Farm.

Bring potluck meals to share for Friday dinner and Saturday lunch and dinner. Saturday and Sunday breakfast will be at the campfire/grill. Coordinate menu with Carolyn Moran by calling 845-667-2015.

Camping reservations are required. There are 15 available stalls.

July 13 is also Lusscroft Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking and admissiona are free. Dr. Robin Hill Chandler will present information at 1 p.m. about the Native American culture from the area. Dr. Chandler is of Munsee/Lenape descent and her insight and knowledge is highly respected and interesting.  There is a $5 donation for the presentation which is sponsored by The Heritage and Agriculture Association, Inc. in cooperation with the NJ DEP/Division of Parks and Forestry.

There will also be a barn sale and vendors, with lunch in the courtyard available to purchase. 

Lusscroft Farm, is located at 50 Neilson Rd. Wantage. See www.LusscroftFarm.org for directions. Trailer Entrance in on County Route 519 at the 4-H Trail. Go by the stone gatehouse and historic marker (mile marker 81. Go up hill, go past the horse ring, then make left to go to stables.

The rides are presented by The Heritage and Agriculture Association, Inc., in cooperation with the NJ DEP/Division of Parks and Forestry.
