LEXINGTON, Ky. — The USHJA Foundation is pleased to open applications for the 2018 USHJA Foundation Gochman Family Grant for the USEF Pony Finals presented by Collecting Gaits Farm to interested USHJA members. Completed applications are due to the USHJA Foundation on April 6, 2018.

Each year, the Foundation awards this grant to provide riders who exemplify the qualities that are most important in the sport — sportsmanship, tenacity, and horsemanship — the opportunity to go to Pony Finals.

The grant is not strictly monetary in nature but rather experience-based. The grant recipient(s) will receive an opportunity to compete at Pony Finals. Up to three individuals may be selected each year.

Any current USHJA member under the age of 18 (per USEF rules), who has not previously participated in Pony Finals and who would not be able to attend Pony Finals without the assistance the grant provides, is eligible to apply. Riders may apply online, using the applications materials available at www.ushjafoundation.org/gochmangrant

The grant, which aims to inspire young riders to embrace this sport at the earliest age and encourage them to continue growing as equestrians, is supported by Becky and David Gochman and family.

To date the grant has been awarded to seven individuals: Logan Blake Crouser (2017), Olivia deStanley (2017), Ella Doerr (2017), Judy Dettore (2016), Riley Hogan (2016), Cecillia Machado (2016) and Matthew Bravo (2015).

Individuals may only be awarded the grant once.

The USEF Pony Finals presented by Collecting Gaits Farm will take place Aug. 7-12, 2018, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. For more information about the USEF Pony Finals see www.usef.org/compete/resources-forms/disciplines/hunter/usef-pony-finals
