Jackson Lewis Names Millburn's Vincent Cino New Chairman

December 5, 2012 at 11:09 PM

MILLBURN, NJ - Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, recently announced the election of Millburn resident Vincent Cino as Chairman effective Jan. 1, 2013.  Cino succeeds Patrick Vaccaro, who served in the position since 2006 and will continue his legal practice as a Partner.

Cino was unanimously selected by the firm’s Partners at their annual meeting in September.  He will be the fifth Chairman and the first trial lawyer to hold this position.

“I could not be more pleased with our Partners’ choice of Vincent as our next Chairman,” Vaccaro said.

Cino has vast trial experience, having litigated every conceivable type of employment action in many jurisdictions throughout the U.S. Prior to joining Jackson Lewis he had a distinguished career as Chief of Litigation in the Office of the Essex County Counsel, Assistant Prosecutor for Union County and in private practice.

Cino, who has served as the firm’s National Director of Litigation since 2006, has been responsible for coordinating the more than 5,000 litigation matters Jackson Lewis handles each year.  During his tenure, Jackson Lewis was recognized as a “Powerhouse” and “Standout” in employment litigation in the BTI Litigation Outlook Report 2013, and was named the “single highest-ranked firm clients want by their side in employment battles” in the same report in 2011.

Cino said after several conversations with colleagues, he expected to be named Chairman. While the past four people in his position have been labor lawyers, he said he is eager to begin.

“I’m excited. I think the firm has done very well the last few years,” he said.

He said he will definitely have a lot more on his plate, but that is nothing new. He has been general counsel for the firm, does litigation, is the head of the management committee and he has his own active docket.

One major change Cino sees in the near future is new fee arrangements with clients. He said billing people by the hour may be changing because clients are looking for certainty so that they can appropriately budget.

“If we’re really going to fully serve our clients' interests and help them and be partners with them this is the way to go,” Cino said.

With his new position, he will be traveling extensively meeting with clients and colleagues. He said whether by phone, email or in person, it’s crucial for him to be accessible at all times.

Cino, while an extremely busy man at the office, is a family man and enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons.

“I am pretty busy, but I think it’s important to have some balance,” Cino said.

He said going forward he wants to continue the excellence that Jackson Lewis provides. As an avid New York Giants fan, Cino said becoming Chairman is like defending the Super Bowl.

“My primary goal is to always to make sure we provide high quality legal services,” he said.
