Morristown, NJ – Morris County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Section Detective Corporal Michael McMahon, and his police dog Kai, compete in the finals of Top Dog. The episode will air this Wednesday March 18.
The episode, billed as the Tournament of Champions, aired on A&E network on Wednesday. 9pm - 10:30pm. In the show's season finale, #Teamkai bested six other K-9 teams and ranked highest in all three rounds of obstacle courses and mazes that tested speed, dexterity and bravery.
"So proud of Corporal McMahon and K-9 Kai for being designated America's Top Dog (and handler). This is the level of service expected and delivered on a daily basis to the people of Morris County," Sheriff Gannon said.
“This is a historic for the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, which has been around since 1739,” Gannon said. “Very significant. Here we have Corporal McMahon and Kai, but the entire K-9 Unit is second to none.”
“America’s Top Dog is a very entertaining series, but it also illuminates how natural and strong the law enforcement partnerships with canines can be, particularly when the dogs are as highly-trained, obedient and sensitive to their handlers as Kai is,” Gannon said.
