Philadelphia, PA — Pennsylvania State Senator Dailyn Leach filed a civil lawsuit on January 28, 2019, for libel, slander, and misrepresentation against three people — including one woman who has accused him of sexual assault. This filing comes days after the State Senate Democratic Caucus hired an outside law firm to investigate claims against Leach that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl in 1991.
Leach has named Cara Taylor, of Bath, PA, Gwen Snyder, of Philadelphia, PA, and Colleen Kennedy, of Havertown, PA in his lawsuit.
The civil suit filed by Leach says "Taylor is an admitted perjurer who has fabricated lies about Leach."
The 75-page filing also claims that the other defendants "weaponize and embellish Taylor's knowingly false accusation" about Leach.
Much of the filing focuses on Taylor and Leach's relationship which began when Leach was a lawyer involved in the case against Taylor's mother for the attempted murder of Taylor's stepfather.
Leach's filing points out that Taylor lied about her age to gain employment as an adult, and that Taylor lied on the stand to protect her mother. Taylor "falsely swore that she, not her mother was responsible for the attempted murder of Taylor's stepfather" the document states. And as a result, Taylor was charged with felony perjury.
Taylor pled guilty and served time for the perjury.
The document also included Taylor's criminal complaint that she filed against Leach. The complaint accuses Leach of "sexual assault of a minor by forcible compulsion."
In that document, Taylor alleges Leach coerced her to perform oral sex in 1991 when she was 17 and he was a 30-year-old attorney. She and others have been telling anyone who will listen about the alleged sexual assault, including state lawmakers. She delivered the private criminal complaint against Leach to state lawmakers.
This criminal complaint prompted those state lawmakers to hire an outside firm to investigate Leach.
Leach's civil suit was filed by Joseph R. Podraza of the firm Sprague and Sprague.
This is an ongoing story and the TAPinto team will be updating this as we comb the 75-page legal document for more details.
