WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Junior Division Essex County Synchroettes, a synchronized skating team that practices at Codey Arena in West Orange, took second place, yesterday, at the Leon Lurje Trophy at Frolundaborg Ice Rink in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The competition took place from January 16-19. The trophy is named in honor of Leon Lurje, former Chairman of the International Skating Union.

The Junior division was comprised of 11 teams from Finland, Sweden, and the United States. Team Convivium of Sweden won the competition with a score of 156.45; the Synchroettes placed second with 136.28, and Team Spirit of Sweden placed third with 136.07. The Miami University Junior Team placed fifth in the competition.
