Garden State growers harvested 41 million pounds of peaches last year, according to the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, making it the No. 3 state producing the fuzzy fruit in the country.

Sure, you can get them at the store, but there’s nothing like picking your own. August, National Peach Month, is also the peak time for peach picking in the Garden State.

Tip: When picking peaches, look for fruit that brightly colored, with no green tones, which means that it’s ripened enough to eat.
