HACKENSACK, NJ - Dr. Andrea Perrone, owner of Perrone Family Wellness in Hackensack, has been charged with insurance fraud, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

In October 2018, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit received a complaint against Dr. Perrone, who was suspected of violating a provision of the NJ Insurance Fraud Prevention Act.

The Prosecutor's Office investigation revealed that between December 2015 and October 2018, "Perrone used another individual to act as a runner, specifically by making payments to and receiving [monetary] benefits for patients that were referred to him in violation of the 'runner' provision of the NJ Insurance Fraud Prevention Act."

Perrrone, 50, a resident of Saddle Brook, was charged with one count of violating a provision of the NJ Insurance Fraud Prevention Act, according to the Prosecutor's Office.

Perrone was arrested on May 28 and is expected to appear in court on June 19.

The Prosecutor Office states that this charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
