FLORHAM PARK, NJ - A alleged female burglar was arrested for a home break in that occurred last Friday in Florham Park.  The full news release issued from the police is listed below:

On Friday, September 11, 2020, the Florham Park Police responded to a report of a residential burglary called in by a house sitter.  Florham Park Patrol Officers and Detectives responded, as well as Detectives from the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, who assisted in processing the scene.  The preliminary investigation showed the burglary occurred during the previous overnight hours, and at the time of the report it was unknown if anything was missing from the home.

During the follow-up investigation, led by Detective Geoffrey Rothrock, we were fortunate to have several potential witnesses voluntarily come forward with various pieces of valuable information.  Their combined observations and our Detective Bureau’s subsequent investigation quickly led to the positive identification of a suspect.  Further information from the victim revealed the confirmed theft of approximately $3500 worth of various personal items.

On Monday, September 14, 2020, the Florham Park Police Detective Bureau, with the assistance of the Morristown Bureau of Police Detective Bureau, established surveillance on the residence of the suspect and were able to obtain additional valuable information supporting their beliefs.  Later in the evening, and after several failed attempts to gain cooperation from the suspect, a search warrant, approved by a Morris County Superior Court Judge, was executed at the residence.

During the search, numerous items of evidential value related to this specific crime were seized and removed from the home, as well as many other items which are still under investigation.  Detective Rothrock placed the suspect under arrest and transported her to Florham Park Police Headquarters for processing.  The suspect, Ms. Deana Moscatello, age 44 of Morristown, was charged with the following crimes:

  • Burglary, a third degree crime

  • Theft, a third degree crime

  • Criminal Mischief, a disorderly persons offense

Following her processing, Ms. Moscatello was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility where she will remain lodged pending an appearance in the Morris County Superior Court.  Anyone with additional information related to this incident is asked to contact the Florham Park Police Detective Bureau.  Information may remain confidential!
