Whilesmith said, according to the Chief of Police Neil Spidaletto approximately 70% of the township was without power so she told the governor's office there was a need for electrical crews to help restore power.  Additionally, with all of the trees that have come down under the weight of ice and snow, Whilesmith said she requested assistance removing downed trees.

Whilesmith said she also inquired about having the governor declaring a state of emergency.  If that were to happen, some of the costs incurred by the township for storm clean up would be refunded to Sparta.
