BERNARDSVILLE, NJ -- The borough has begun to receive formal proposals from companies interested in taking the lead on the downtown redevelopment project for Quimby Lane.
After the Borough Council extended its deadline from May 1 to July 1 for bids, it gave developers with potential interest in the project more time to assemble their proposals.
"We did receive two (bids), from Melillo Equities and AST Development Corporation," Bernardsville Mayor Mary Jane Canose told TAPinto Somerset Hills. "They will be reviewed by Topology, the consultant who assisted with writing the RFPs."
The Request for Proposal had stated that the projected Quimby Village would "become part of Bernardsville's identity and reinforce the unique downtown district as the crown jewel of the community."
Canose said that she will be meeting with the Downtown Development Committee on Friday, "so (we) hopefully will get an update then."
