PLAINFIELD, NJ — The Plainfield Zoning Board of Adjustments will hold its annual reorganization meeting on Wednesday, January 15. Board member Robert K. Graham, whose term had expired at the end of 2019, and newcomer Sandra Harrison will be sworn in. A resolution adopting the nominations was unanimously approved at the City Council reorganization meeting on January 6.  A new Chair and Vice Chair will also be elected.

On the agenda are two resolutions to be memorialized, including 1014 South Avenue, LLC which received final approval at last December’s marathon 5-hour meeting. The final plan allows for a 5-story building with 1- and 2-bedroom apartments, with 1800-square-feet of retail on the ground floor and an adjacent multifamily mixed-use structure. The entire project includes 47 apartments with 55 parking spaces, including 12 covered spaces, as a part of the design. Five existing structures surrounding the area are to be demolished to accommodate the new addition to South Ave.

  • Pontoon Properties, LLC is seeking a site plan and use variance application for an addition to the rear of an existing mixed-use project at 300A Park Avenue. The site is currently a part of the TODD/Central Business District in downtown.
  • Joseph Tanner, applicant for 222-228 Monroe Avenue, is seeking a certificate of non-conformity to retain a commercial garage on a single family site.
  • Moon Builder, LLC is proposing a minor subdivision for the property located at 833 West Front Street to construct 2 two-family dwellings. The lot is currently vacant.
  • Susan Wong, the final applicant on the agenda, seeks relief from a requirement for both front yard and rear yard parking, and paving in excess of the maximum lot coverage requirement for an existing 3-family dwelling located at 333-335 East Seventh Street.

The Zoning Board meeting on Wednesday starts at 7 p.m. and will be held in the library at City Hall, 515 Watchung Ave.  Meetings are open to the public.
