The Union County Torah Center - Chabad will be presenting a Summer 2018 Film Festival to take place at the center, 111 Laurel Place, Westfield. The fourth film will be on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
“Disobedience: The Sousa Mendes Story” is the story of Aristides de Sousa Mendes, the Portuguese Consul General stationed in Bordeaux, France, during World War II who defies orders from his government and issues more than 30,000 visas to people fleeing the Holocaust. His courageous actions have been described by Historian Yehuda Bauer as “perhaps the largest rescue action by a single individual during the Holocaust.”
