CHATHAM, NJ - Dan Czepiga is starting his second year as the Chatham football head coach with 87 players from freshmen through seniors, an increase of about nine players on the roster over last year's total.

Every player, including more than 20 freshmen, were participating in drills at the same time at stations organized across the field during practice on Tuesday.

Czepiga is preparing for a quad scrimmage with Allentown, Rahway and Randolph set to start at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Cougar Field.

Chatham was 2-8 a year ago, winning road games at Millburn and Dover. The 2019 season opener is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at Morris Hills High.

The competition for playing time at quarterback is between senior Ryan Coughlin and junior Luke McAloon, seen in practice in the video below.

Brian Nagy has been added to the coaching staff for the Cougars. Nagy a graduate of The College of New Jersey, where he was a kicker, also played for Hillsborough High. He will be working with defensive backs, wide receivers and special teams.
