HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - Hasbrouck Heights Head Coach David Rispoli is optimistic when he thinks about the prospects for his 2018 bowling team Why wouldn’t he be, with five returning seniors, four of whom made second team All-League a season ago, why wouldn’t he be optimistic for a good season?
The Aviators hope that the experienced roster can help them improve on last season’s 11-5 record, and third place finish in the states.
“Every bowler returning is a senior, and all have improved since last year,” Rispoli continued. “Each bowler’s goal is to add one more strike to their game. If they achieve this, it will add 10 pins to their total average.”
The Aviators will be led by Shawn Calhoun, who led the team in average a season ago (174 average per game) and high game (236). He will most likely be the anchorman for the team.
Next is Dylan O’Connor (166 average, 217 high game.)
“Dylan looks to have improved the most since last year,” said Rispoli.
Closely behind are Davor Babic (161 ave, 225 high game), Daniel Behrens (157, 201) and Antony Markonovic (152, 224.) Babic and Behrens joined Calhoun and O’Connor on the All League Second Team.a season ago.
“All three are very close in their ability,” Rispoli said. “They tend to push each other and each of them wants to beat the others. It is beneficial for them and good for the team.”
Alyssa Demone and Sean Reyes will provide depth at the varsity level.
“Alyssa is consistent and can roll a high game every now and then, "Rispoli stated "Sean is just learning.”
With an experienced and deep team, Rispoli is looking for big things form his team.
“We are shooting for at least second place in the league,“ Rispoli said “And to win the states,”
