Posting for Spring Coaching positions occurred in December, 2012.

In addition to the Fall Coaching openings, a Middle School Boys Baseball Coach at Roosevelt Middle School is still needed, as well as a Girls Softball Coach at West Orange High School.  These positions are available immediately. Please submit those applications to Mr. O'Neill.

Coaching and Extracurricular activities like clubs are not guaranteed positions.  Interested parties must apply for these positions on an annual basis.  The Interim Superintendent said in a statement in December, 2012, saying "We have many fine coaches and I suspect many of them will get reappointed. However, many of our coaching positions have not been open for several years. We thought it would be a healthy process to see what qualified candidates might be interested in coaching at WOHS.  I suspect there are a number of well qualified coaches both in and out of the district who might be interested in filling some of these time intensive positions, which require a great deal of dedication, but offer great rewards to both coaches and student athletes.  Finally, we are determined to impress upon our students that we are a school that believes you are a student first and an athlete second.  We also believe there are many students who will be successful in class and on the field of competition, but the two are not mutually exclusive."

Mr. O'Neill, Athletic Director Ron Bligh, and WOHS Principal Hayden Moore will decide which candidates will be proposed for submission for approval to the Board of Education.

*Mr. O'Neill responded to our request for additional information on today's postings and the postings in December.  He said:"The spring assistant positions were posted just like the fall coaches.  The reason is simple: if there is a new head coach he/she should have the opportunity to pick the assistants and not inherit assistants from the previous coach.  New head coaches may want to take the current assistants but some may want to have an opportunity to hire assistants they think are more experienced or talented."

This comes a year after the circus, due to mounting pressures from animal rights activists, got rid of the elephants.

It is not really ...
