LONG ISLAND, NY -- Ellen Volpe, President of American Business Associates, spoke with David Faverio, CEO of Pupfish Sustainability Solutions, on a recent episode of Opportunity Calls with Ellen Volpe.
Pupfish Sustainability Solutions, based in Hauppauge, New York, offers data destruction, electronics recycling and IT asset liquidation services to organizations throughout the New York tri-state area. "We operate as an extension of in-house IT Departments," Faverio said. "We partner with companies to ensure secure data destruction and equipment liquidation at any point throughout the IT asset life cycle."
After a career in commercial lending and corporate finance, Faverio decided to start his own company that could help organizations handle disposing of their end-of-life electronics responsibly. The name “Pupfish” came from the small fish that lives in Death Valley, California. “To us, Pupfish embodies what we want to embody,” Faverio explained, “resiliency, adaptability, and the ability to survive.” Faverio added, “we were able to tie everything together in terms of what these companies need and our love for the environment.”
Faverio highlighted the demand for businesses to be more environmentally conscious, especially within the electronics industry. “In America, 2% of the landfills are filled with electronic waste, but it comprises 70% of the toxins that enter the ground,” he explained. “We are trying to make it very easy for our customers, we are also trying to meet their regulatory and statutory needs, reduce their risks, get them to help the environment, and make sure that we are protecting their data and the data of their customers,” explained Faverio.
“We have a zero-landfill policy here at Pupfish, so anything we get, nothing ends up in the landfill,” stated Faverio.
