GLEN ROCK, NJ -- Becky Greene, Editor of TAPinto Fair Lawn & Glen Rock, appeared on TAPintoTV’s weekly Sunday television show on News 12+ to share a story about a local group who conducted a virtual poetry slam to raise money for New Jersey health care workers.

G.R.I.N.S., which stands for “Glen Rock Is Never Surrendering,” was founded by three women to provide meals to workers on the front lines in nearby hospitals in Bergen County, New Jersey, the area with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state. The meals are ordered from Glen Rock-area restaurants, also in need of support during the pandemic. “This is a fabulous group,” said Greene.

G.R.I.N.S. has raised $30,000 since its inception, and the Virtual Poetry Slam raised $1700 alone. The poetry slam took place on April 15 via a Zoom video conference. Participants were given a prompt and had to come up with an off the cuff poem in response, which was “quite delightful and quite funny,” Greene said.
