LITTLE FALLS, NJ -- Sharon Kornstein of Image Design Consulting spoke with Brian Brodeur, Executive Producer of TAPintoTV, about her business and how she has adapted to working virtually with her clients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kornstein helps her clients, both individuals and companies, how best to present oneself through dress, nonverbal communication and professional etiquette. “Whether people want to admit it or not, your first impression is based on how you present yourself visually,” said Kornstein. “That’s really what I help my clients improve.”
Since the pandemic has moved many business communications online, Kornstein has followed suit and now offers Zoom styling, online etiquette and virtual closets; the latter allows her to make suggestions for clients from over 10,000 retailers and add them to an online “closet,” from which her clients can purchase items directly from the closet she has created. Etiquette advice can also translate to online communication, said Kornstein, such as when to start a video feed, how your profile picture looks and even when to mute your microphone.
Kornstein says that in her own professional experiences, she noticed that “it wasn’t always the smartest, most technically proficient people that got ahead, it was the people that presented themselves well, that dressed professionally, that had, whatever you want to call it--charisma, gravitas, executive presence,” she said. “What I do all really feeds into that,” she added.
“I take a lot into consideration when I make suggestions,” said Kornstein, “it’s my client’s industry, their personality, what their professional goals are.” Kornstein offers a wide variety of help, from compiling outfits to personal shopping, having custom clothing designed and even access to private label clothing lines. “When you work with me, you don’t go around looking like everybody else, the clothes are unique for you,” she said.
