NEW JERSEY -- New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney recently appeared on a special edition of State of Affairs where he discussed the federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic with host Steve Adubato.
“I think we missed a window of opportunity to maybe lessen the curve,” said Sweeney. “I could blame the president, or I could thank him for helping us.”
Filmed on March 20, 2020, as social distancing and stay at home policies had just gotten underway in New Jersey, Adubato spoke with Sweeney via video conference from East Main Media’s studio in Little Falls, NJ, which was reconfigured to accommodate remote interviews due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Adubato asked Sweeney if he believed that the federal government was unprepared for the magnitude of this crisis.
“I’ve really seen a turn in the way people are looking at this now,” said Sweeney. “If we underestimated things, we are where we are, and we, together with our federal partners, need to move forward.”
