DANIEL ISLAND, SC - The Volvo Car Open, North America’s largest women-only tennis tournament, is an event rich in tradition. With its start in Hilton Head in 1973, the Volvo Car Open was a pioneer in women’s professional sports, boasting large payouts for winnings and prime television coverage. In 2001, the tournament moved to Daniel Island, and developed a unique partnership with the City of Charleston. The city built a state-of- the-art facility for WTA professional players to serve as the tournament’s home base, as well as a tennis center for players of all levels in the community. This year, the event will be held March 30th through April 6th.

Daniel Island is nationally recognized as the tournament host and the event would not be possible without the help of a large group of local volunteers. Each year, over 300 people work to make it happen seamlessly. Volunteers are needed! Experience a renowned sporting event behind the scenes by signing up at volunteervco@gmail.com. Volunteers are required to work a minimum of six shifts, attend an orientation, and purchase a Volvo Car Open uniform. For their time, volunteers receive free entry during all day sessions, including the finals, and two free tickets for the PowerShares Series on April 6th.
