BARNEGAT, NJ — The 2021 Barnegat Little League opened its season this Saturday after skipping a year due to COVID-19 related restrictions. Mayor Al Bille threw out the ceremonial first pitch to open the start of the Intermediate Division's Yankees and Orioles game.

“The Township Committee and I strongly support youth sports in Barnegat,” said Bille. “I consider it a great honor that I was invited to take a spot on the mound and be a part of opening day.”

Approximately 220 players signed up for this year's Barnegat Little League. Sounds of baseball bats making contact and balls flying in the air brought back smiles to the faces of children and adults alike. Cheers together with occasional laughter erupted from the complex as friendly competitions began.

“Play ball.”  Bille passed on to the teams.  “It's great to finally say those words to these kids as they head out to the field to do their best.”
