"For me, it was always a dream to be a police officer," Evan said, "I loved seeing the Stafford police cars driving by when I was younger and just fell in love with that profession."

Miranda said, "I grew up watching Criminal Minds and that peaked my interest in learning and dealing with people who commit such acts."

After college, they moved to North Carolina where they currently reside.

"We fell in love with being down south, so we applied to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, and they accepted us," Evan said.

Evan and Miranda are proud to work as patrol officers for CMPD, which is one of North Carolina's largest police departments.

The couple both graduated from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Academy this past Friday, April 16.

"I'm looking forward to getting out into the community and having a positive impact on them," Evan said, "this department is great and offers many opportunities for that."

Miranda is looking forward to putting her skills to the test.

She said, "We would do scenarios in the academy to test our knowledge, but it’s not the same as doing it out in the field. Being out of the academy will make me step out of my comfort zone more. There’s a lot of responsibility to take on now. I’m excited to make a difference. There’s a lot going on in the world and people need friendly faces to trust again."
