SOUTHERN OCEAN COUNTY, NJ – Just about everyone has played the board game featuring disappearing guests who turn up dead. That’s just a bit of the clue as to the Little Egg Theater’s (LETCO) production of Agatha Christie’s, “And Then There Were None.” When the show opens tonight, two local Southern Ocean County actors will help set the stage.
First, there’s Barnegat’s Christine Danelson, who plays the part of Vera Claythorne. She’s a newcomer to LETCO but comes with a slew of past credits. Once an Equity actress reviewed by the New York Times, Danelson went on to earn an MSW and works in the field.
“I am very passionate about the theater,” said Danelson. “I’m really excited about this show and think we have a phenomenal cast.”
Manahawkin resident Richard Engebretsen graduated from Southern Regional High School in 2017 and is currently working towards his AA degree in Performing Arts at Ocean County College. Engebretsen assumes the role of Marston and has worked with LETCO in the past.
“My part entails acting as a wealthy young man, who loves cars,” Engebretsen shared. “I enjoy the fact that we have two separate endings.”
“And Then There Were None,” is set in 1939 and produced by veteran director Tara Dixon. She gives some valuable insight into the history of the play during an interview conducted by TAPintoBarnegat/Waretown.
At a sneak preview during dress rehearsal, it became evident that the cast has worked hard to produce a great show. Everyone fits their parts remarkably well, and their British accents are extremely believable.
The introduction music has an intriguing, suspenseful sound. A voice out of nowhere adds to captivating the audience’s attention. And, not to worry. A few dead bodies here and there means very little. After all, they’ll come back to reenact the show throughout the weekend.
In addition to Danelson and Engebretsen, nine others are part of this LETCO performance. In order of appearance, they are, Ricky Franco (Rogers), Adelle Conroy (Mrs. Rogers), Jim Henry (Fred Narracott), Cormac Morrissey (Lombard), Rick Mellerup (Blore), Ken Shirak (General McKenzie), Janet Wolf (Emily Brent), A Grey Le Cuyer (Justice Lawrence Wargrave) and Chuck Deeney (Dr. Armstrong).
