Boat Crashes into Channel Marker Late Saturday Night in Beach Haven, Six Injured

BEACH HAVEN — The Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company reported that the company responded to a late-night boat accident on Saturday. The BHVFC was alerted at 11:58 p.m. to respond to a boat accident.  A boat had struck a steel pole channel marker and 6 people were injured.

Use Caution in Ocean this Weekend, Offshore Storm to Cause Rip Currents and Large Waves

LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ — An offshore storm is coming this weekend with large waves and rip currents to be expected. 

Long Beach Police Department sent out an advisory notification Thursday afternoon to alert residents and visitors to use caution if entering the ocean this weekend as guarded beaches will be limited.

Route 72 Causeway Bridge is Reopened

LONG BEACH ISLAND — The Rt 72 Bridge is reopened in both directions. 

At 10:20 AM, the Stafford Township Police Department received a call about a  suspicious bag under the RT. 72 bridge.

The bridge was closed as a precaution as an investigation ensued, With the assistance of the New Jersey State Police, the bag was found to be non-threatening.

Tornado Watch in Effect Until 10 p.m. Tonight (Wednesday)

SOUTHERN OCEAN COUNTY - A tornado watch is in effect in our area until 10 p.m. according to a release by the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.  

A few tornadoes are likely and there may be scattered wind gusts of up to 75 miles per hour. 

There is also a flash flood watch until 10 a.m.
