NORTH BEACH HAVEN, NJ - After nearly 70 years in business, the Hand's owners decided it was time to retire.

News got out at the beginning of the month that this Long Beach Island staple recently sold sending locals and tourists on social media in hysterics. It was unknown until now what Hand's would become.

Would it be another business torn down and replaced with mega-homes or condos?

Hand's has been the "go-to" place since 1952 to get anything you may need from home goods, beach supplies, to LBI branded clothing.

On February 29, The Hand Store announced on their Facebook page:

Just wanted to give our customers the good news! Earlier this week it was decided that Hands will reopen under new ownership!! Our “winter sale” will continue until March 15th. Starting March 16th we begin to restock our shelves and get ready for the summer. Please be patient with us during this process it will take some time to get back in fighting shape. Thank you everyone for your kind words and loyalty and we hope to serve this community for many years to come.

Steve Bondio shared, "Great news! I live in Atlantic City but spent my childhood summers in Beach Haven Park & I still make the drive to this one of a kind beach store!"

Another freuqent LBI vacationer, Mitchell Maged, wrote "Best news! We've been going to Hands since I was little. Losing this landmark would have left a huge hole in the hearts of LBI."

Losing Hand's sure would have left a huge hole in the hearts of LBI. It's easy to see everyone is happy to keep this store a part of our home here on Long Beach Island for many more years to come.
