OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - Statewide, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose to 113,856. The death toll throughout New Jersey is now at 6,442. Despite both increases, some positive news comes at both a state and county level.
First, the hospitalization rate continues to go down with 6,476 people admitted to New Jersey hospitals. One of the more encouraging statistics is reflected by the number of patients on ventilators, which is down to 1,262. Additionally, 419 people were discharged from hospitals within the last 24 hours.
In Ocean County, there were only 109 new positive COVID-19 tests reports. Over the last three days, this represents a steady decline. Barnegat had no new cases and remains at 182. Ocean Township (Waretown) has 36 reported positive tests. Although the health department shows one additional case for Waretown, they inadvertently underreported positive test results yesterday. According Ocean Township Chief Michel Rogalski, there were no new confirmed cases within the community for today.
Lacey is up 3 to 156, while Stafford is also up 3 to 174.
Of the 352 Ocean County residents who died as a result of COVID-19 complications, 72 reported residences in Lakewood. Brick was not far behind with the loss of 67 lives.
