OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - With the Memorial Day weekend over, there are some changes as far as an increase in positive COVID-19 test results. As of today, there are 8,401 currently confirmed coronavirus cases throughout the county's 33 municipalities. It remains unknown as far as the number of active cases.
In Barnegat, the number of positive test results increased by 10 since Friday for a current total of 233. Ocean Township (Waretown) current reports 45 confirmed cases. Stafford moved from 226 to a total of 228. Lacey saw an increase from Friday of 201 positive test results to today's total of 210.
The state has attributed over 11,000 deaths related to COVID-19 complications. Of that number, 692 fatalities reportedly came from Ocean County. This number also includes those who resided in long term care facilities within the county.
Lakewood, Brick, and Toms River all report more than 100 deaths related to the potentially deadly disease. Manchester nears three digits with 96 fatalities.
