OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - Statewide, New Jersey saw an increase to 121,190 positive COVID-19 test results. Of the 229,693 people tested, 135,355 came back negative. The percent of positive to negative results is slightly up at 41.5%.
Hospital census information continues to play a vital role in understanding the number of people hit the hardest by the disease. Throughout the state, New Jersey hospitalizations have broken to below the 6,000 mark to 5,972. Of that number, 1,783 hospital beds were occupied by COVID-19 related patients in Central New Jersey. The state considers Ocean County to be a part of Central Jersey.
The number of people on ventilators throughout the state is now at 1,286, which also represents lower number. Statewide, 571 patients were discharged from hospitals throughout the state within the last 24 hours.
There are now 498 long term care facilities reporting 19,153 confirmed coronavirus cases within them. The state reports that 3,488 deaths were reported by these facilities. Statistics regarding Ocean County nursing homes and rehabilitation centers are detailed here.
According to the Ocean County Health Department, the county now has 6,547 positive COVID-19 test results. This represents an increase of 174 countywide. Barnegat is up 3 to 195, while Ocean Township (Waretown) has no new cases and remains at 37. Lacey is up 1 to 160; Stafford has an additional case and is at 183 positive tests. As of today.420 people who self-reported residences in Ocean County have now succumbed to the coronavirus. The average age of the decedents has risen to 77.6. Nearly 78% of the fatal victims were over the age of 65. The youngest person to die from the disease was 20 years old, while the oldest was approaching 104.
